Summary
The Great Lakes Forestry Centre (GLFC) is a 22,505 square meter mixed occupancy facility that includes laboratories, offices, greenhouses, and a large area that hosts a range of environmental chambers. Ameresco designed and implemented a project to reduce energy costs and improve facility conditions for building occupants. The project was initiated with a feasibility study that was approved for implementation in 2014.

Natural Resource Canada’s largest research centre, GLFC benefits from more than $399,000 in annual combined electricity, natural gas, and water energy savings. Program benefits include:

Services Provided
After completing a feasibility study, Ameresco commenced the design and implementation of a comprehensive project that involved infrastructure upgrades and numerous energy conservation measures. The project required careful planning with multiple stakeholders so as not to disrupt day-to-day operations. The performance contract included:
