Devising and implementing an Energy and Carbon Management Plan
We are able to carry out all aspects of an Energy and Carbon Management Plan from data capture, through energy efficiency audits, to trading the resulting allowances under various national and international schemes.
Ameresco works with a range of companies to implement robust monitoring systems in order to ensure compliance with current and future legislation and provide a repository of complete and accurate data, which can then be used to implement cost effective and measurable greenhouse gas emissions reduction strategies.
This reduction in absolute levels of consumption coupled with Ameresco’s existing market risk management expertise results in a higher degree of control over the costs associated with our clients’ entire energy portfolio.
We are already actively participating in the Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency Scheme, supporting our clients’ data collection systems and processes and managing the reporting functions for them.
In addition, our Demand Response services have allowed us to develop the technical capability for real time monitoring of sites and acting on unusual patterns of site activity.
As well as measuring an organisation’s carbon footprint and developing a bespoke route map or Action Plan towards low carbon operations, we can:

This includes integrating policies into management systems to ensure actions are embedded into their management team and systems, KPIs and reporting procedures.
Taking action to reduce energy consumption
In addition to being able to validate bills issued by our client’s suppliers, it is important to take actions that reduce energy consumption wherever practical and accurately measure energy consumption at a process level from both monetary and carbon reduction perspectives.
Accurate reporting of energy consumption is a vital part of any long-term energy saving programme. Without this information, it is difficult to produce the financial justification for energy saving initiatives or to prove the benefits of those that have already been implemented.
Ameresco’s systems enable individual sites to access their energy cost and consumption data and when used across a client’s portfolio by all site facility managers, it will help them understand energy use in their buildings and quickly alert them to problems through anomaly tracking.
